Help yourself by helping others – Red Cross Valpovo

Croatian Red Cross the Red Cross Society in Valpovo signed its first grant award contract in December in the amount of 3.072.960,11 kn. Thus, from 28 December 2017, we started implementing the project called Help yourself by helping others – Red Cross Valpovo, approved under the program for employing women “Zaželi” funded under the Operational Programme Efficient Human Resources 2014-2020. from the resources of the European Social Fund. The contract, on the other hand, was signed by the Ministry of Labor and Pension System and the Croatian Employment Service.
The aim of the project is to mitigate the consequences of unemployment and contribute to reducing the risk of poverty of 15 less-employable women and women with a lower level of education and encouraging social inclusion and increasing the quality of life of 75 end-users in the Valpovo area. The project will be implemented for 30 months, i.e. until 28 June 2020.

Women from the target group will acquire the knowledge and skills that will make them more competitive on the labor market through training programs. The acquired knowledge and skills in the training program will be implemented in the program of providing support and assistance to the elderly and the disadvantaged. By providing assistance and support programs, the target group will further enhance the acquired knowledge, develop practical skills and work habits, which will result in increased competitiveness of the target group on the labor market. Women will also strengthen their social skills and contacts through the implementation of the program, which is of great importance for raising competitiveness in the labor market, but is also a prerequisite for stronger social inclusion.
The project leader in partnership with the Croatian Employment Service Osijek, Valpovo Social Welfare Center and the "Zvono" Association in Belišće will provide education and employment for 15 unemployed women who will provide day-to-day assistance to senior citizens in the Valpovo area.

The first coordinating meeting of the project was held on 26 January in the offices of the Valpovo Red Cross local branch, where responsibilities, dynamics of implementation of activities and planned joint meetings during project implementation were defined.
